Im thinking abou doing an interrail next summer and I have a few questions that maybe some of you can answer.
1) Im want to buy a pass that will allow me to travel for a full month in all countries in the network. The global pass allows me to use as many trains a day as I want ?? Night and day and no reservation required??
2) There are allot of countries I want to visit and I know I cant visit them all. What is a realistic plan ?? Give me an example.
3) My plan is to travel by night. Is it dangerous???
4) If I wanna go on July or August how much time before am I to buy the pass??
Hope someone can answer.
Thanks ;)

hi ...
interesting for you to read should be the step by step guide answering already a lot of questions: https://rail.cc/en/first-interrail-tour/f3303
to your questions...
1) see topic above answer (6) - and yes, you can use as many trains on a days as you want during one month.
2) calculate 3 days per city or place you stay - otherwise it is only stress.
3) normally not - it is always better not to use seats, use compartments and talk to the other travelers. if you sleep in a normal seat in a night train, fix your bag pack with a bicycle locker on you seat.
4) buy it two weeks in advance (the delivery time is 24/48 hours by express mail service) - but then you are relaxed. buy it via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - then you support our project and the answers and this forum ... thank you. :)
have a lot of fun planning your tour, Peter :)

Thanks.
I still have some questions:
1) is it possible to travel only by night?? I dont want to spend much money in hostels. . .
2) One of the places in my list is the UK where I would love to visit London and some areas in Scotland. How do I get to the UK using my global pass???
3) (VERY IMPORTANT ) How do I buy a premier league ticket?? Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal .... I see it on tv but I would love to see it live (if i travel within season time)
4) What is the best time to do an interrail (summer, etc)??
5) If I want to get into russia (all the way to the capital) how such i do it since it is not in the network??
Thanks in advance

1) yes it is possible - but you will need long distances between the cities, otherwise it isn't worth to use a night train.
normally a night train doesn't have showers. only sometimes in the expensive 1 or 2 bed cabins.
hostels can be cheap: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] to get an impression.
and as I said - 3 nights in a city is good ... :)

3) at an international ticket agency. but to be honest: this has nothing to do with InterRail and I can't give you an answer. ;)
3) May, June, September, October
4) you can buy tickets for your tour to Moscow at Warszaw main station (Poland) or Bucharest (Romania) and all other countries which are close to Russia.

1) Depends on the route - night trains are available between most larger cities but you'll have to get up early/enter the train late sometimes. Although you can save some money traveling on night trains I'd strongly recommend to travel also throughout the day to see the landscape of the countries you are traveling through. ;)
2) Ferry Calais - Dover or Hook van Holland - Harwich :arr: have a look at the topics of the relevant country in the forum
Or Eurostar (expensive).
3) Can't help you on that, sorry.
4) Well, summer is nice. :) But you can travel throughout the year - depends on when you have time, where you are going to, if you prefer hot/cold etc - in summer most people travel so in might be a little trickier to get hostel beds and train reservations at short notice.
5) Go to ie Bratislava, Warszawa etc and buy a regular ticket there. There are good overnight connections from middle and especially eastern europe (Ie you have through sleepers from Innsbruck, Basel, Paris).
Flo 8)
EDIT: Aww, Peter you were too fast. ;)

This is still very poorly planned.
I would like to do the following (in a month)
Departure : Lisbon.
Then and not in any order: Barcelona, Paris, Cognac (and the south of France in general). Berlin and Munich. Praha, Rome, Arthens, London and Aberdeen in Scotland .
Also I would mind visiting Milan and more of England, Scotland, Germany and Greece but I dont know how much time Ill have.
(Russia is a dream but I really dont think it can be done)
The order should be from Portugal towards Greece. However I really dont know what citys to see when moving towards greece and what to see when coming back towards Portugal.
Suggestions ??

concerning Russia - the cheapest and most comfortable way is to catch a good air fare.
Air Berlin sells one way tickets to Moscow from 49 euros from several airports in Germany and Vienna.
Malev often sells for the same price (or for 99-119 euros return) from various cities in Europe via Budapest.
Some other airlines (Germanwings, Blue Wings, S7 Airlines, etc.) can also provide good advance fares.
Train fares are 2-3 times higher and the trip takes 22-40 hours one way. Not a good idea.
