Hi,

I'm an exchange student in Aarhus (Denmark) and i'm planning to do some travelling between 22 december 2009 and 12 january 2010. but i't's my first interrail experience and i have lots of questions in my mind. if you could help me i will very glad :)

i'm gonna buy interrail global pass 10 days within 22 days and i wanna go these places : Aarhus (start) - Hamburg - Amsterdam - Paris - Lyon (maybe) - Barcelona - Rome - Pisa - Venice - Vienne - Prag - Berlin (maybe). first i wanna ask if this plan is doable or not? because i really wanna see these places, and if possible i can add some extra places to see. i think it will be easier if list my questions?

1) according to this route, it seems that a lot of the time i'll be travelling in the trains :( is there any other way to deduct extra hours spent on passing through cities?
2) are there any cities in this plan you can say don't go, or can you suggest other places to this plan?
3) especially when passing from barcelona to rome, it seems like it'll take my hours :( i think about finding cheap flights from Ryanair and i'm ready to pay for extra 15 kg luggage for once. but i'll take my rucksack with me and i'm not sure it will weigh less than 15 kg if i fill it fully. here is the information about my rucksack : outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Vango_Contour_50_10S_Rucsac.html
4) is it a wise idea if i buy 10 days within 22 days, because travelling may take several hours should i buy 22 day continuous ?
5) how many days are enough for each of the cities, should i spend more than 2 days for example for paris, barcelona etc.?
6) i'll stay at hostels but at least i wanna gain some days by taking the night trains but as i checked from the night train schedules, it takes more hours than travelling in the day :( so if take the night trains, i'll lose more days.

and my final question is that if you have additional suggestions, i'll be glad if you share them:)
i know i asked a lot of questions, but i need to be sure about everyhing before i leave for my trip :)
thanks a lot in advance.

ok, first of you probably wont be able to do the whole of your planed trip on a 10 in 22 ticket (assuming you dont visit more than one city in a day). It would be a very hectic 22 days if you bought a 22 day continuous pass.

See https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train for info about night trains. Even though they may take a little longer you can often only use 1 day travelling through the night and then have a whole day in the city.

Id limit yourself to around 8-9 cities for 22 days, otherwise youll be on trains all the time and not actually see anything!

You shouldnt need more thant 15kg for a 22 day trip...

You could spend a week in paris, barcelona and rome and not do everything you wanted to. Id say 3 days minimum. The rest a couple of nights should be ok.
