Hi,

I am looking to go interrailling summer 2010 but as I have never done this before I was wondering if the route I am thinking of is do-able? It is by no means fixed so any advice would be much appreciated!

Fly from UK to Amsterdam - Berlin ( make way south maybe to Munich etc to..) - Austria (Salzburg, Vienna) - Hungary (Budapest) - Croatia (Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split) - Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence, maybe part of the Lakes) - Switzerland - France - fly from Paris back to UK.

Thanks!

Hi Katie ...
It depends on your ticket... if you want to do this within 10 days or a month. I definitely recommend a stay of at least 3 days in a city to get a feeling of it.
So if you travel on a 22 days pass or 1 month pass, your travel route is a good one.

Amsterdam - Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/train/amsterdam-to-berlin

Berlin - Munich: by free day ICE or CNL night train: https://rail.cc/en/train/berlin-to-munich

Munich via Salzburg to Vienna: by free day trains (IC, ICE or Railjet)

Vienna - Budapest: by free day train: take a direct one like the Railjet, as if you use a train connection with a change in Hungary, you have to pay a supplement (international direct trains are free!!)

Budapest - Croatia: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-venice-night-train/f1387
There are different possibilities. Ljubljana is definitely worth to stay as well.

Italy - Switzerland: you can do it by day trains, pay attention to the Italian supplements: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/italy/it

Switzerland - France is the best by direct TGV Lyra train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/france/fr

Have fun planing your tour, Peter :)
