Hi,
it's my first interrail trip, that's why I have some doubts about the route, tarifs... Can you help me? :os

I'm planning to travel around Germany by this route:
Dresden Hbf Fr, 04.12.09 dep 17:04 17 EC 172 Eurocity
Berlin Südkreuz Fr, 04.12.09 arr 19:13 5
Berlin Südkreuz Fr, 04.12.09 dep 19:49 6 CNL 450 City Night Line
Paris Est Sa, 05.12.09 arr 09:30

Paris Nord Mo, 07.12.09 dep 06:25 THA 9307 Thalys
Amsterdam Centraal Mo, 07.12.09 arr 10:36 10a

Amsterdam Centraal Mo, 07.12.09 dep 20:31 CNL40419 City Night Line
Zürich HB Tu, 08.12.09 arr 08:34 15

Zürich HB Tu, 08.12.09 dep 22:40 9 EN 467 EuroNight
Wien Hütteldorf We, 09.12.09 arr 07:54 4

Wien Westbahnhof We, 10.12.09 dep 22:12 11 D 202 EN 476 Schnellzug
Dresden Hbf Th, 11.12.09 arr 05:47 3

Is it better to buy InterRail ticket 5 days within 10 days, or maybe it will be cheaper to by tickets for all this train? I've read about reservations fees, but I don't understand about Thalys and EuroNight. How much should I pay for reservations? ;)

I'm looking forward to your help.
Thank you.

Hi Diana ...

It is definitely cheaper by Interrail - as supplements you have to pay as well without Interrail. Nothing is free in the world. ;)

Always have a look at this website where you will find all supplements:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
For night trains check the country topics of our forum . Of course you have to pay for, if you want a bed - but it is often cheaper than a hostel. :)

Some help for you...

Dresden - Berlin: free by EC or ICE trains

Berlin - Paris: by CNL - https://rail.cc/en/berlin-paris-train/f2545 and https://rail.cc/en/berlin-paris-night-train/f3753

Paris - Amsterdam: by THALYS with supplement: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam
There are cheaper option (see the link) - if you want to save a least a little bit of money, travel to Brussels and change there to the free IC train to Amsterdam.

Amsterdam - Zürich: by CNL - https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/amsterdam-zurich-cnl40419/16

Zürich - Wien: by EN - https://rail.cc/en/zurich-vienna-night-train/f1448

Wien - Dresden: by EN - should be like this: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/vienna-berlin-en-60406/45
cheap seats also available. But you can also take the cheap CNL night train Wien-Berlin and then by free ICE, IC or EC back to Dresden. Might be cheaper. :)

Peter :)

Peter, you're very helpful!

I've found mistakes in my route)) If we travel this way, we don't have to use two travel-days:

Dresden Hbf Fr, 04.12.09 ab 21:20 17 CNL 458 City Night Line
Mannheim Hbf Sa, 05.12.09 an 04:43 5
Mannheim Hbf Sa, 05.12.09 ab 06:40 8 ICE 9558 Intercity-Express
Paris Est Sa, 05.12.09 an 09:50

That's why another questions have raised...

1. The ticket 5 days within 10 days is possible for our trip?

2. I haven't found CNL from Wien to Berlin. There is only Wien-Munchen, Munchen-Dresden. Am I right?

Thank you!

hi Diana ...

yes that's right - you only will need ONE travel day for Dresden-Paris then. Be sure to buy the reservation/supplement for the ICE/TGV Mannheim-Paris (will be EUR 5) as soon as you arrive in Dresden.
The same for the other supplements you will need (night trains, ...) - as you know already your exact travel dates - so you can relax during your tour. :)
and for the Wien-Berlin: sorry I mixed something - you are right. :)

Peter :)
