I'm interested in going from Budapest to London by train. I'm 23 y/o. I'd like to do Budapest - Munich stay there for two nights then Munich - Rotterdam for 1 night and get stenaline to Harwich and then a train to London.

Which is the cheapest/best pass for me to purchase? City to City or interrail pass?
Will there be any surcharges for any parts of the journey?
If so please give estimates.
What discount do I get on the Ferry ride to Harwich?
Is the train from Harwich to London Liverpool street included in the price of the interrai pass?
Is there anywhere where I could check the time tables of trains running from and to these destinations? Have had difficulties finding online
- Also two friends of mine 21 y/o are interested in the Budapest - Munich - Budapest ticket prices - please advise

Thank you very much

Hi ...

Here are the links for you:

Budapest-Munich: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-vienna-munich-night-train/f1747
You can also use the direct and free RAILJET train from Budapest to Munich running 4-5 times per day.

Remember the rule for your country of residence: https://rail.cc/en/how-to-interrail

From Munich to Rotterdam, you have different solutions: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Think about a night train, which is cheap: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/germany/de

For the ferry Hoek van Holland to Harwich read here: https://rail.cc/en/hoek-van-holland/ferry/c

If the UK is not your country of residence, the train Harwich to London is included in InterRail.

About the ticket: I recommend you the 5 days in 10 InterRail GLOBAL Pass: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]

For your friends: as I am only specialist for InterRail, I can not give you details about normal, single train journeys.

All the best, Peter :)

Hey I've just booked a 5 in ten day pass. How can I reserve places on the trains I want now? Is it necessary? Also do I pay extra for overnight trains? Also how can I receive my interail discount on stenaline now? Theres no option on the online booking form. Please advise, Thanks

You have to reserve seats on the night trains - they should be able to do this at a Budapest train station for you. Im not sure about the ferry, you could try ringing them up?

On the Belfast - Stranraer Stena Line ferry it was only possible to get the IR discount if you're buying the ticket directly at the ferry port - I guess it might apply for the Hook van Holland - Harwich route as well.
