Hi everyone,
I will be interrailing for a month in a few weeks time. I will only be staying in hostels or sleeping on night trains. Are a sleeping bag (/liner) or pillow necessary?
Many thanks,
James

Normally no, sometimes there is a small suppliment for bedding but it depends on the hostel. I usually take a liner, because it takes up hardly any room and can be useful in an emergency

No, no and no. All you need is a bivvy bag for emergencies - you don't need pillows or a sleeping bag. (though I would recommend one of the blow up pillows that wrap around your neck, for the trains - I'd have killed for one of those... KILLED!)
