Hello there. A friend and I are planning to travel around Scandinavia in September and we may need to return from Helsinki to Stockholm using the ferry.
This may sound like a stupid question, but we were wondering if the usage of the Inter rail card on the ferry, which gives us 50% discount, counts as one of the days of travel? For example, if we had traveled 3 out of the 5 days that our ticket allows, will using the ferry count as another day, bringing us up to 4 used days out of 5?
Any help would be appreciated. :P

hi ...
a useful link... https://rail.cc/en/ferry-stockholm-turku-helsinki/f1233
:)
usually you need ONE travel day to get the ferry discount. either the departure or arrival day.

At the ship’s arrival (Viking terminal) how do you get to Stockholm's train station?

The Viking terminal is situated in the port called Stadsgårdsterminalen.
There is a bus shuttle to the next subway station, but it is very expensive.
Walk (follow the coast line in western direction) like most other foot travelers do:
~ 10 minutes walk.
The subway station (tunnelbana) is called Slussen from where you have a direct connection to the main station:
T-Centralen
~ 4 minutes.
Ticket: 1-zone (A) - 30 SEK

I also noticed that there was a route between Rostock and Helsinki for the Tallink sealine but the interrail discount is not mentioned for this route (although it is for every other route). Does that mean that you would have to pay full fare if you use this sailing. Thanks :?:

Hi
Rostock-Helsinki is full fare. Maybe there is a student discount or something.
But there are only discounts for InterRailers on routes which are needed - to reach cities which are not possible to reach by train. For example to get from Sweden to Finland.
Or from Italy to Greece.
The ferries are a bonus - as InterRAIL is a RAIL ticket.
