Hello everyone,

I'm planning my first InterRail and I have a lot of questions, I hope someone can help me out.

When I use the Route Planner, how do I know which trains I can get in for free and which ones I need to pay a supplement? I chose Without HST/trains with surcharge and checked no trains with surcharge. However I get some trains whose description is:

internationale sneltrein/train rapide international
2nd class only seated accommodation, Sleeping-car, Couchettes

1) Does this mean I have to pay an extra? Or only if I want a bed?

I have another that reads:

internationale sneltrein/train rapide international
Subject to compulsory reservation, Global price

2) So I assume I have to make a reservation for this one, but what is Global price?

3) Is there any way to filter out all trains that require paying an extra?

4) I found a list with the trains that require a reservation cost, but they have names. On that site I can only get numbers so I can't relate them, for example 4661. How can I relate them?

Thanks in advance for your help,
~Ruben

1) Perhaps - it depends, most overnight trains require a compulsory reservation. If you are unsure, and it is not listed on this website feel free to ask

2) Yes, no idea

3) No

4) Im not sure, if you could be a bit more specific I might be able to help

Thank you for your reply SiDUDe.

Regarding 1), the train I mentioned does not say that it requires reservation. However, it is a night train, do I have to pay an extra to use night trains even if I just want a normal seat? I understand that some of them require a reservation.

Regarding 4), I have a list with trains that require reservation/extra fee, in it there is this (as an example):

SPAIN
Arco, Talgo, Diurno, IC
Compulsory reservation
2nd class: € 6,50 / 1st class: € 10

But on the route planner website all I get are train numbers, not those names (Arco, Talgo, etc...). How do I know if any of those numbers is one of these extra fee trains?

Also, if anyone else knows what Global price is, please let me know.

Thanks again.

Try searching on the [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] website, that tends to give a little more information about the trains that the other route planner
