Travelling round europe for 1 month, what would you recommend taking that would be the safest way to keep your money safe?

I've heard that the Nationwide Bank offers a current account that allows you to withdraw money from abroad for free. Has anybody else done this? Is this a good idea?

Cheers

mmmh... there should be some topics around there concerning credit cards, ATMs and getting money abroad ... I always have a VISA card with me - works everywhere in Europe... and I pay 1% commission ... it is okay... Peter :)

The Nationwide account is ok however I understand they have changed some of their fees from the start of June/July so check the small print, I think it's still very reasonable.

Its still free for cash withdrawals in most of Europe, there might be a small charge for using chip & pin on purchases though
