Hi, I just came up with a route for my interrailing trip from 1st August until 25th.
I would be grateful if you could comment/advice on my route, and maybe make a few suggestions if you have any!
I fly from London to Barcelona. Then I plan to go to Nice.
From Nice I would like to go to Genoa, then travel around Italy, so going to Rome, Napoli, up to Florence/Orvieto, Venice.
Then I am thinking of going to the capital of Slovenia, then to Zagreb.
For the last leg of my trip I am thinking of going to Vienna, overnight train to Zurich (if there are any), then come down to Milan to fly home!
Does this route seem doable in the period that I have?
I would appreciate it if you could advice, or make any suggestions.
I would be grateful with advice on trains between Barcelona-Nice, Wien-Zurich, and the bit of Slovenia-Zagreb-Wien.
Thanks!!!

Hello ...
It is a lot to do within 24 days - but you can do it. As well it won't be cheap travelling these cities - except Ljubljana and Zagreb.
About the trains you mentioned:
Just use the journey planer https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route - then have a look at the supplements https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation if necessary and a the country topics of this forum for night trains. :)
Barcelona - Nice
several connections - no direct night train - if you want a fast travel, you can't avoid supplements for the Talgo.

Wien - Zurich
https://rail.cc/en/train/vienna-to-zurich
as well several day connections
Ljubljana - Zagreb - Wien
No direct connection. Travel via Budapest and then up to Wien

There are 2 night connections from Vienna to Zurich.
One at 21:25-08:20 (9 Euros reservation fee and 29 with cuchette)
Quaintly, we booked one at 23:25 (approximately) - 08:20 (5 euros fee and 21,9 cuchette)
We booked it on the phone (isnt possible online) and I dont have on my hands the tickets yet. It's my first time via interrail, but I specifically said Interrail global pass 2nd class. I will verify its valid when I receive it in a week. (you can pick them in Austria free of charge.)
From my experience so far, regarding TGV trains, you can book them only online at sncf site, nowhere else. Some certain routes can be bookable for 9 Euros (usually these ones until boarders of France). Other at 35 and the most expensives one's at 105. (etc Zurich-Paris direct 105, Basel-Paris 35, Mulhouse-Paris 9).
If you go in person in France you can book any TGV at 9 Euros.
AVE trains can be booked on phone (I did in Austria) [One representative told me he couldnt, but another one booked it successfully (the first one didnt try, because he knew that high speed trains can be booked only at country they belong)]
Regional are free and not bookable.
I m sorry if I said something wrong. Please verify it. My purpose is to help, but I m not so experienced so as to be sure.

For Barcelona-Nice: I reccommend:
16:45-21:05 RENFE Barcelona-AIX EN PROVENCE TGV (I suppose its free, check it)
(search it in sncf as provence and you will find it)
21:20-23:55 TGV AIX EN PROVENCE TGV-Nice City (9 Euros in sncf checked)
Any more exprienced please confirm for the first trip.

This times I m providing were checked for 3rd April in random.
So in August may exist other ones. But I think my logic is reasonable and cheap. (but may be
infeasible :Ρ) This trip Aix-Nice exists only Friday-Sunday
Every other day there are earlier only.
