I have already bought the Post Office travel money card (POMTC) on the euro currency (which I am happy with). I was just wondering if I should get a £ sterling card for when I vist eastern european countries. Will the exchange rate be different?

I know that the POMTC is a good way to withdraw money abroad, but what actual charges are made?

Kind regards

Adam

All the charges are here www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/jump2?catId=96400753&mediaId=96400776

Its an OK way of getting money out abroad, especially in the Euro Zone. Its not that good once youre outside that though, its not so good.

The best way of travelling with money is still the Nationwide Current Account Debit Cart, 0% on withdrawals in most European countries

I would have opened up a Nationwide account if I had done all my research sooner. I travel on Saturday and wont have time to open one.

Thanks though

Hey, just to clarify, can the Post Office card be used outside the Eurozone? And why is it not so good?

Yeah, it can be used anywhere Visa Electron is accepted. Its not great because its quite expensive if you dont load it with Euros and withdraw in Euros

What would you suggest instead? I don't really want to set up a bank account if possible. I'm sure I saw something on here a while back about a special card for travellers or something?

I always use my normal VISA card or my bank card (with MAESTRO logo on the back side). Got money from every ATM around Europe in the past without any problems. :)

Ok, so I just read the terms and conditions of the POTMC and it says the card is forbidden to be used for reserving accommodation. I don't understand why, but does that mean I couldn't use it on [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] or a similar site?

No, its not a debit/credit card so I dont think you can use it online
