Hey,

I have a 2nd class global inter rail ticket and live in the UK (which happens to be a disadvantage for booking trains etc). I am looking to reserve tickets from Zagreb to La Spezia for August 20th. I understand the journey is quite a long one at just over 14 hours.

From looking on DB Bahn website I've found that the journey consists of 3 legs;
1) Zagreb Glavni Kolod - Venezia Mestre (this is on the euro night train EN 240)
2) Venezia Mestre - Firenze S.M.N. (this is on Eurostar Itaila ES 9391)
3) Firenze S.M.N. - La Spezia Centrale (this is on the regional train R 23357)

legs 1) and 2) require complusory reservations. However I am unsure of how to do this. The websites I have tried to book the tickets through have all come back with a server error, I have also been to my local train station and was told stations in the UK don't have access to the euorpean system to reserve trains.

It seems that being in the UK I am unable to reserve train seats until I get into mainland Europe. Is this the case? Or can anyone advise on how I can reserve train seats from the UK?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

Its pretty much the case that you cant book european trains from the UK. There are a few specialist travel agencies that can do it, for a fee.

You could try the trenitalia site for the ES suppliment, as they might be able to do it. Otherwise, if you want to do it before you get out there you can ring DB and they should be able to do it for you
