Hi, I'm going to be InterRailing on my own. Just wondering, are night trains safe for a girl on her own? What precautions should I take?
Also, when it comes to compulsory reservations, how far in advance should I book my ticket?
Are passports taken up on night trains for border checks? How and when do you get them back? Thanks!

Yes its safe as i believe you can request a woman-only compartment on night trains
Passports are taken by conductor/inspector on boarding and given back after passport/border control.
At the minute reservations can only be made in big European stations not online :( and Depending on what trains and times it is sometimes advisable to book early as they will fill up!

Yeah, if you can ask for an all female compartment, most overnight trains have them

Thanks for that guys. So you get the ticket and passport back in the morning? That's good, I'm glad they have all-female couchettes.
