Hi,

I'm thinking about going from Lisbon to Roma and I’d would like to know which route would be better in terms of money (avoid supplements) and duration.

About the supplements, we were wondering how much we would have to pay for example in the TVG between Hendaye and Paris or Paris and Torino. Could we make the reservations and pay the supplements at the station St. Apolonia in Lisbon?

Looking forward your help.
Thanks

Hi ...

The best option to save money will be by SUD EXPRESS to Hendaye:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/lisbon-to-paris

As it is then a long journey - the best is to have a stop.

1) Either in PARIS (Hendaye to PARIS by TGV = supplement 3/10 EUR)
Then by night train from PARIS to ROME
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/paris-to-rome

2) or in NICE for example.
Hendaye Dep: 1911
Nice Ville: 0758
by Corail night train

Hendaye Dep: 1106 (free regional train)
Bordeaux-St-Jean Arr: 1333
Bordeaux-St-Jean Dep: 1459 (TEOZ: supplement EUR 3)
Marseille-St-Charles Arr: 2042
Marseille-St-Charles Dep: 2129 (free regional train)
Nice Ville Arr: 0012

Nice Ville Dep: 1846
Ventimiglia Arr: 1935
Ventimiglia Dep: 1951
Genova Arr: 2301
Genova Dep: 2353 | night train: https://rail.cc/en/naples-napoli-rome-roma-genoa-genova-torino-turin-train/f3969
Roma Arr: 0551

You should get most of the supplements in Lisbon... :)

Of course there are more connections available, just use the route planer:
