Hi Peter and everyone else
*We have decided to use 2 passes on our trip, a 10 in 22 then maybe a 5 in ten or another 10 in 22, hopefully giving us about 5 or 6 weeks travel with a gap to chill out between passes. First, is this sensible?
*The idea had been to buy the second pass while away, iv read through the forums and I see that some people have had trouble doing this. Any ideas on how those troubles were resolved? Just go to another ticket window or have they been stuck with a massive train fair to pay?
*Other option could be of course to have it sent to our hostel in whichever place we're at. Again, sensible? does the 48hr express delivery really come in 48 hours?
*Finally, I'll be starting from Paris early morning and meeting her in Zürich, then we'll continue on to München in the same day. I will need to book a TGV which I should probably do ASAP. Can I do that before I get my ticket, and if not, how do I do it even with the ticket?! (booking online from Scotland).
Thanks again guys for your help! :D

Absolutely. A friend of mine is doing the same this summer. :)

Best way probably would be doing it online via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - Peter knows more. ;)

You cant make the TGV reservations online at the SNCF websites. Only possibility to buy them online will charge you an extra commission - cant tell you anything more precise since I never booked there.
However you probably won't get any reservation anymore the day you arrive in Paris for the TGV. Depending on when and how you arrive in Paris there would be the following connection to Zurich without TGV:
Paris Est 0711 - 1110 Belfort
Belfort 1155 - 1234 Mulhouse
Mulhouse 1247 - 1309 Basel
Basel 1333 - 1426 Zurich
If you can't make this train there would be the following alternative connection - only via Basel, not Zurich, your girlfriend would have to meet you there then. It's only an hour from Zurich to Basel.
Paris 1313 - 1743 Mulhouse
Mulhouse 1831 - 1906 Basel
1912 Basel - 2059 Karlsruhe
Karlsruhe 2106 - 2203 Stuttgart
Stuttgart 2212 - 0034 München
:!: Mon-Fri only!

thanks for the reply Flow,
unfortunately I really have to get the TGV to Basel at least, so I guess I'll need to organise a booking somehow. 2pm is too late as there are some things i need to do in Zürich first... I was in Switzerland last week and the swiss train system had a rare fault, meaning I was late to my plane. Id checked in online already but they didn't have time to check any of my bags in, so had to leave them behind! need to go and pack again from scratch once im there :o

It's really difficult to say. The TGV Paris - Switzerland are quite busy so you probably wont get an IR reservation at short notice.
Another alternative I could suggest (in case of an emergency ;) ) would be taking the Paris - Munich night train and get out at Ludwigsburg early in the morning at 0418. Then continue:
Ludwigsburg 0446 - 0502 Stuttgart
Stuttgart 0518 - 0806 Schaffhausen
Schaffhausen 0809 - 0848 Zurich

... just to add... best way during your tour is online via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] ... the delivery address can be the hostel or camp site where you stay. just inform the staff that you will get a letter send to them for you.
no problem .... :)
