hi,
I'm travelling around Europe this sunday and I want to know if there are any hidden costs or supplements I've not considered in my train connection plan. I'll be on tour for 3 weeks and visit the citys Vienna, Rome, Paris and Amsterdam.
My other question is if somebody knows how much discount there is on trains within my home country (Germany) with the InterRail Ticket (what could it actually cost to and from my home country?).
My plan is as following:
Frankfurt(Main) - Dep. 10:21 (ICE 25)
Vienna Weststation - Arr. 17:22
(Duration: 7:01 min.)
Vienna Weststation - Dep. 13:40 (OEC 566, S2, stoptrein, sneltrain (compulsory reservation))
Roma Tiburtina - Arr. 08:37
(Duration: 18:57 min.)
Roma Termini - Dep. 18:40 (EuroNight (compulsory reservation))
Paris-Bercy - Arr. 09:16
(Duration: 14:36 min.)
Paris Nord - Dep. 19:37 (sneltrain, sneltrain, Regional-Express, Intercity)
Amsterdam Centraal - Arr. 11:06
(Duration: 15:29 min.)
Amsterdam Zuid - Dep. 20:58 (Intercity, stoptrein, Intercity)
Frankfurt(Main) - Arr. 07:02
(Duration: 10:04 min.)
So supplements should be only on the EuroNight, right? (must be about 10-15 €, is that right?) Or is there also a supplement on the ICE on my departure from Germany? I hope it all goes well, I've never done something like that before and have absolutely no travel experience yet (on travelling alone). If you've got any other train recommendations please let me know!
Thanks!
Peter

Hi Peter ...
Frankfrt to Vienna: you get a 25% discount on the ticket until the border (Passau). This ticket you have to buy at a railway station. It will cost something about EUR 45. ||
Better option: buy a special ticket - you have to do it today, otherwise the offer will disappear.
The ones I found:
Frankfurt(Main)Hbf Dep: 06:22
via Passau (you will have to buy the ticket to the special price FFM-Passau - EUR 29 - check the website [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] )
Wien Westbahnhof Arr: 13:22
Wien to Roma:

Roma to Paris:

Paris to Amsterdam:
it seems you already avoided the THALYS connection. The trains you mentioned are free. See also:
https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam
Amsterdam to Frankfurt:
have a look at the link above for special offers. otherwise it might become expensive. think as well about the Schönes Wochenende Ticket (EUR 39 - up to 5 persons) and travel by regional trains from the border of the Netherlands to Frankfurt...
or use the Rheinland-Pfalz-Ticket for 27 EUR (regional trains - up to 5 persons) and cross the border at Luxembourg/Trier - then go to Mainz/Wiesbaden.
I hope this will help you ... all supplements should be available at Frankfurt Main station. If you know the exact travel days (and it seems it is like that), book them already today if possible.
Have fun, Peter :)

Hi Peter (another one, yay :P ),
thanks alot for your help. Maybe you should edit the german explaination on the website quite a bit, because my father first missunderstood that there is 25% on the whole price, that is, the price is 25% of the original price (for example 100€, 25% of it = 25€) and not 25% discount! But I'm glad I found a cheap offer for 34€ from Gelnhausen (which is nearer to my home village) to Passau with an ICE. I think it is the same train you mentioned, but I had to pay 5€ more. :/
Maybe a night train would be the better option for Wien to Roma for 5€ per seat. I hope you can sleep well on those seats, hehe. :P But on the link you mentioned for Roma to Paris, there is only the Artesia train, right? That would be too expensive I think. But the EuroNight sleeper I wanted to book should also be about 5€, right? I hope it's not booked out already.

Depends on how many persons are in your compartment...if it's full (six people) it can be quite an exhausting night with little sleep - depending on you and how well you can sleep in such an evironment of course. ;)
The Artesia is quite a good offer to go from Rome to Paris - if you to it during the day you'll probably have to pay an expensive supplement for EuroStar Italia or similar (up tp 15€) plus at least on TGV (3/10€). Consider that you can save the money for a hostel and gain extra time to explore both cities - it's quite a good option taking the Artesia train.
The seat on the EN Wien - Roma should be 5€, that's right, however a sleeper will cost you considerably more. Maybe a couchette would be an option for you?
