Hi guys,

a friend and i are planning on traveling from Paris to Antwerp in just over a week just wondering if anyone has any advice on how best to go about this. Would like to avoid supplements if possible but if traveling by THALYS should we book reservations online or at paris station, any info would be much appreciated. thanks

Dont use Thalys - there are hourly TGV Paris - Lille where you have immediate connections to Antwerp with IC or with RE (sometimes you have to change trains in Kortrijk too). TGV supplement is 3€, 10€ at peak times, travel time 3h.
If you'd like to go without any supplements at all you have to go via Aulnoye Aymeries; several connections ~every two hours, travel time 5h.

No you have to buy the supplement in advance at a SNCF station...do it a few days in advance if possible to get on the train you want. ;)
