Hello outthere,
it´s quite strange:
If the things that are written in this forum are true, there is almost no simple interrail trail in whole greece...
Am I confused or the OSE? ;)

I am planning to travel with the youth interail ticket(2.class) from germany via austria and italy to greece with my girlfriend in september.
And I still got some questions. would be so great if a very kind person has some answers for me:

1.Is there a possibility to get from patras to athens without paying extra fews?
2. If there is one, how can I see which trains are for free?
3.How many trains a day are going from patras to athens?
4.Is there a possibility to get from athens to thessaloniki without extra fews?
5.Is the ferry beetween alexandropoulis and samothraki included in the interrail pass?

Hope a greece-insider has some minutes for us!

Cheers
Karl

yeap OSE site is really confusing..

i am not sure Peter knows better.. from Patras to Athens there are normal and IC trains but they all reach Kiato and then you have to take Suburban train where you have to buy a ticket. probably you have to pay the Suburban train ticket.. if you have a student card bring it with you it will save you money. Student ticket from Patras to Athens by normal train costs around 7 euro so its not worthing wasting a day from your interrail ticket for this route.

2. If there is one, how can I see which trains are for free?

normal trains have a three digits number and IC trains have a two digits number

3.How many trains a day are going from patras to athens?

if you search the forums you will see the timetable ( i am a bit lazy now :D )

probably with the normal trains not the IC ones.

certainly not but won't cost you much.. will you camp at Samothraki?

i think i am :P

ps1. - OSE site is crap but it has a good call center 1110 , so Peter check if you can call 0030 1110 from Germany it will be helpful if it works!
ps2. if you have student card bring it with you it can offer you bargains in Greece in trains museums etc..

Thanks a lot for the informatiom.
i guess you are a better travel agency than the OSE is ;)
I didn´t recognize the timetable, so I am the lazy one

Actually I don´t know where we will stay in Samothraki.
Maybe camping..Do you know something about the camp sites and stuff in samothraki?
And: Do you know if the ferries from croatia to greece via italy are 100 % included in the ticket?

thanks again!

hej Karl ...
first thanx to baobab for all the information ... :)

just to add some links:
Patras to Athenes: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/athens-to-patras
and then change to the suburban which is not included in InterRail

then Athenes to Thessaloniki: it is only free by night train - of course you have to pay a supplement for a seat. something around EUR 3. I am lazy as well today - all seems to be lazy here right now. ;)
or a couchette - something around EUR 20.

and the ferry Greece-Italy or back: it is free - except of the fuel surcharge and the port tax you have to add in the summer months. more information:
https://rail.cc/en/ferry-greece-italy-patras-bari-ancona-venice/f1348

and yes ... we should plan a perfect route trough Greece... something to do for summer... ;)
have a good time, Peter :)

Peter can you test if its possible to call OSE call center from abroad at 0030 1110 ?
since the site is crap , the call center will be more helpful for those who need official help and infos..
