Hello,

I have a question regarding this night train.

I and my wife are planning a journey with it in direction from Oslo to Malmoe. We will have Interrail tickets, of course (for adults, 2. class), and from what I read in your post, a single place in 6-bed compartement should cost us 14 EUR. But when I am trying to book such places for us, on the page that you linked, it offers such places in the price: 218 NOK (~28 EUR), despite the fact that I set that we are owners of IR tickets...

Does that mean that I can make such couchette reservations only at a station of SJ (Swedish Railways)? Isn't it possible on-line...?

Thank you very much in advance for your help, and such information.

Best regards!

Hi!

Where did you try to get the reservation? And for what date?

I just checked on bokatag.se and got several prices ranging from ~18€ to ~25€ depending on the day of departure (basically the longer you book in advance, the cheaper it gets). Dont forget that the indicated rates at the site are in Swedish, not Norwegian Krona. ;)

Thank you for your quick reply, Flo! :)

I have used the bookage.se page.

Here is the chosen date of our journey: Oslo S - Malmö C --> 22.07.2010

7:30 PM Oslo S 6:27 AM+ Malmö C 10h 57min --- Train Sleeper train, SJ

And... the prices are: couchette: 218 SEK (of course not NOK), berth: 284 SEK :|

What's interesting (and quite strange...), if I tried to see normal prices for that journey (without IR tickets) - they were as follows: couchette: 239 SEK, berth: 294 SEK. So as far as this train is concerned, there is almost no profit of use IR passes! :o

Could you explain me the aforementioned situation, please...?

Humm...

I just was at my local station in Graz at was quoted 19€ for a couchette and 35€ for a triple sleeper.

Whereas bokatag.se seems to be not working properly at the moment... :| Dont know why but I'll try later again.

Maybe it's better to get this reservation at a ticket counter - that doesnt neccessarily have to be in Norway or Sweden, but is also possible in Germany, Austria,...

Hi.
Maybe the system don't like to do it correctly because it is a connection Sweden-Norway.
As much as I know, the Norwegian rail company NSB don't offer online reservations for InterRail travelers:
www.nsb.no
The best way is like Flow already said. Just wanted to add a solution.

Thank you once again for your help and advices!

I finally decided to book two places in 6-bed compartement using the www.sj.se/sj/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=10&l=en page. The prices were the same as on the www.bokatag.se/en/ page: 218 SEK for one place. After all, I bought them by now to avoid possible complications (in situation when all of places in this train would be sold out for that day). I am still confused with that minimal difference of prices for passengers with&without IR-passes, but... I would like to feel at ease before the journey. Maybe this is just the price of that comfort? ;)

Greetings from Cracow (Poland), and... keep up the excellent work you are doing! 8)

Hello.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I am also looking to get a couchette on the Malmo to Oslo sleeper next month but can't seem to find the cheap ticket for Interrail pass holders.

I've looked on bookatag.se and sj.se but the first doesn't seem to show me any available tickets whatsoever and sj.se quotes a higher price than I'm sure it should be.

Anyone know where I'm going wrong? I'm looking to travel on or around the 9th September.

If I can get the cheaper carriage, great! But if not I fear I will have to omit Oslo from my travel plans

Hi.
There is no direct night train on this route this summer. Due to the construction work in the Oslo area.
You will have to use a day train - a free connection is available:

That explains why I'm struggling! Thanks.

Think I might give Oslo a miss then, sadly. Copenhagen to Stockholm will satisfy my Nordic curiosity this time

If you have the time, think about a trip in the North of Sweden:
https://rail.cc/en/train/stockholm-to-narvik

Or a ferry cruise to Finland:

To extend your Scandinavia trip a little bit. :)

Well, if you dont have much time I'd prefer Stockholm to Oslo anytime. ;)

Awesome. I figured Stockholm was the one to see.

And Copenhagen obviously, but I've done there before.

Thanks guys
