Hi guys!
Me and my friend are going on an interrail this summer, and we have planned the first part of the trip. In that connection I have two questions:
1. Is it necessary to book seats on the night train from Frankfurt to Paris Est? If so, how?
2. How to book seats on TGV from Paris to St Raphael Valescure? It is nearly impossible to book seats only if you not are from the US. Any ideas?
Thans in advance!
Selvin :)

Yes, you'll have to make a reservation for the CNL Paris - Frankfurt. Details here: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/germany/de
Also, all TGV trains require a reservation made in advance - you have to make them directly at any SNCF station or at larger station in other European countries.

Ok, then I'll book the TGV seats in Paris.
But about the Idirect ICL from Frankfurt to Paris, I don't get a book seat only option. It's only possible to buy the whole train ticket. None of the trains are marked with the CNL, the only train which fitted into our travelling programme was ICE 9558. Any tips on how to book seats only on this one? :)

Sorry, my bad. The direct Frankfurt - Paris night service has been withdrawn in December (as well as the service to/from Hamburg). There are only the Berlin and Munich services left.
If you want to go at night this would be the best route starting at Frankfurt:
Frankfurt 2310 - 0044 Stuttgart
Stuttgart 0126 - 0930 Paris
If you want to sleep more you could take an earlier train towards Ulm, Augsburg or even Munich and catch the night train there.
You only can make reservations for night train via the website, regular ICE reservations (you need them for the Frankfurt - Paris service only) have to made at the station still.

Thanks for the answer!
Maybe I can book seats directly at the station in Frankfurt then, I have 15 minutes to do it on so I think I'll make it. If not we'll just hop on the train and see what happens :)
Thanks for the help anyway :)

You dont have to make the reservation at Frankfurt, you can make them at any other lager station too; 15 minutes probably is too less time because Frankfurt is a huge station, I've once been there for making reservations in the late evening and it took me more than 15 minutes.
And speaking of just hoping on the train - might work out, might be a bad idea. Depends mostly on the staff on the specific train but you would have to pay an extra surcharge for buying the reservation on the train at least, I guess.

Hm, we will arrive in Köln at 03:36 AM, and the the train to Frankfurt will depart at 04:20 AM. You think it would work to make the reservation there?

Do it in Hamburg rightaway (or whatever city you are coming from) if possible on the day you arrive there at the station.
Alternatively there'd be this a connection:
Hamburg 1938 - 2201 Göttingen
Göttingen 2331 - Paris 0630

Yup, seems like a nice route - remeber that you have to buy a reservation for the TGV too.

Youre welcome. :)
Not a 100% sure about making a reservation for a TGV when the train is running already. :| Moreover this is the only TGV Munich - Paris so all IR reservations might be gone already.
Dont want to scare you just want to make sure you get your connection. ;)
If you really wouldnt get a reservation here's an alternative connection from Karlsruhe:
Karlsruhe 1000 - 1027 Offenburg
Offenburg 1034 - 1104 Strasbourg
Strasbourg 1215 - 1434 Paris
