Hi again guys!

I am reading https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train and just ordering my InterRail passes. I am getting the 5 in 10 days pass.

I note on the page above that it says:
Attention: you can not use this rule on the first day your InterRail Flexi Pass is valid. If your first day your ticket is valid is the 20th of July, you can not use the rule for night trains already on the 19th of July in the evening after 1900h. Your InterRail Flexi Pass starts the 20th of July at 0001h in the morning

As it's a 5 in 10.. say I did the above dates (ticket starts 20th July) but got a night train at 2000h on the 21st of July, would that be ok?

The 1st day of my ticket would surely be 20th but the 1st day of travel would be 21st (tho for the sake of the ticket the 22nd?).

Would getting a night train on the 20th even be ok (even tho it's for the ticket it's the 21st?).

Thanks
Shell

If the starting date of your pass is July 20th, you can start traveling on this day at 0000.
If you dont want to use the first day as a travel day you could use the 1900-rule, take a night train on the 20th in the evening and mark the 21st as your first travel day.
Clear? :P

However, depending on where you start and how long you need to the border you could use the first day as a travel day as well and buy a regular ticket to the first station the train stops at this day.

You cant use the 1900-rule when the ticket isnt valid yet; for instance starting day of the pass: July 20th and taking a night train starting past 1900 on the 19th is not possible.

so I simply add: if you purchase your official InterRail ticket at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] , you support at the same time this project. thank you.
have sunny travel days and do not hesitant to ask if you have some more questions. Peter :)

Hey guys, just to confirm the first day rule:

I have the 5 in 10 pass and am planning to travel from Lisbon to Madrid Nighttrain at 22:30 September 12th, arriving in Madrid at 08:58. Do i put the 13th as the first day of travel?

Thanks

Nope, sorry. You'll have to put the 12th as your first travel day.

However you could buy a standard ticket from Lisboa to Abrantes (0019/0020) and start your InterRail pass from there.

thanks for the quick reply. So this counts as 2 travel days if I use the night train from the 12th to 13th?

If you're putting the 12th as the starting date of your IR pass, the 1900-rule applies and can put in the 13th as a travel day only.

If you're putting the 13th as the starting date of your IR pass, the 1900-rule does not apply and you can start using the InterRail ticket from 0000 on the 13th only. In this case you'd have to buy a standard ticket from Lisboa to the first station the train reaches on the 13th, that being Abrantes.

:)
