I am planning a trip on my own this August - I have about 16 days. I need some time out so looking for a mix of cities and scenic routes. I am not fussed about Spain or France as I have visited them several times.
I will be travelling from London.
Places I am being drawn to Berlin, Copenhagen, Prague, Hamburg, Munich, Venice, Rome. I dont want to try and cram to much in and run out of time but would also like to see as much as possible. I'm going crazy trying to plan my own route and was wondering if anyone could suggest some routes to get me started?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
Lindsay

hi Lindsay...
to find train schedules use this link: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
and if supplements are needed, check it here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
for night trains which I recommend on your tour, have a look at the country topics of the forum .
to you route:
London - in direction of Berlin:
maybe use the ferry Harwich - Hoek van Holland https://rail.cc/blog/from-london-to-amsterdam-with-the-dutchflyer/ to avoid the expensive supplement, continue to Amsterdam
Amsterdam-Hamburg-Copenhagen
Copenhagen-Malmö (just 30 minutes away from Copenhagen, very nice student town)
Malmö-Berlin by night train https://rail.cc/en/berlin-night-express-sweden-berlin/f1186
Berlin-Prague by direct day train (4h-free of supplements)
Prague-Munich https://rail.cc/en/prague-paris-train/f2402
Munich-Venice by night train https://rail.cc/en/night-train/munich-zagreb-en-499/151
but you can also cross the Alps by day train. have a look on Zürich (Switzerland) for example.
Italy - Rome - night train to Paris https://rail.cc/en/rome-roma-venice-milano-paris-day-night-train/f1043
back to London | ferry https://rail.cc/en/paris-london-ferry-calais-dover/f1442 | Eurostar https://rail.cc/en/paris-london-eurostar/f1806

Your a star, I'll be sending you a postcard for sure.
How many days do you think I could stay in each place?

oh perfect... I love postcards...!!! :)
it always depends on if you like to party, to visit cultural places and so on ... if you want to explore, or just rush trough and see as much as possible.
you said you have 16 days.... I would do it this way:
London-Amsterdam
Amsterdam: 2 nights
Hamburg: 1 night
Copenhagen/Malmö: 2 nights
Berlin: 2 nights
Prague: 2 nights
Munich: 1 night
Zürich: 1 night
Venice: 1 night - if you can sleep somewhere else, do it, Venice is expensive (!!) - or just stay there during the day and then continue to Rome
Rome: 3 nights
and then back to London ... maybe change a little bit depending on the weather, the hostel and so on ...

I've been looking at flights today and I'm thinking of flying into Hamburg and flying home from Rome.
Also skipping Copenhagen so I can spend more time in other places and some time in Zurich/Switz.

if you fly, you will save a lot of travel time. that's right... :)
if you want to have some more kilometres on your tour, think about Vienna, Krakow (Poland) or Ljubljana (Slovenia) ... all around the corner of Prague/Munich - if you use night trains. ;)
