I have only a couple of weeks left before i depart for my 6week interrailing trip and slightly concerned regarding planning what to see and do when i arrive in destinations. I usually try and research any city i'm visiting to find the places i would like to visit but as i dont have much time around work etc to research areas and because i'm going to various countries/cities then i'm feeling anxious that i wont have prepared enough. When interrailing do you simply turn up in a city and use information in the hostel, tourist information etc? I'm worried i'm going to be visiting different cities and miss interesting sites :| Of course i understand i will be spending between 1-3 days in places so cant visit everything!
Also regarding safety, my only other concern is regarding people with authority who abuse this.(I'm taking all the precautions i can against pickpockets, theft etc.) My concern stems from being in Egypt last year and i was advised not to trust the police near tourist hotspots as they will ask for money. We were advised to avoid them. Being from the UK, i automatically trust the police, security etc but as i'm a female solo traveller then i'm worried that if the police, train inspector tell me that i need to pay money or a fine etc then i'm not sure how i will handle this. I'm probably just being overly paranoid but i just like to prepare myself for any situations that could arise!
Thank you for reading my ramblings :)

As long as you keep your common sense, you should be fine. If in doubt ask the locals
