Interrail sleeping bags

Hi everyone

I was just wondering how essential you think a sleeping bag is?
I've spoken to some friends who recently made a trip similar to the one me and my boyfriend are making and they said they were fine without them... We're going to take travel sheets regardless but we're hoping we don't need sleeping bags. We're planning on staying in hostels only.
