How to activate Interrail ticket?

Hello,

I am going interrailing in july 09. I wanted to know how do I activated the interrail ticket.
Is is automatically activated from the date it is valid from?

Yes. If you buy it (either online or at the counter) you'll have to declare a starting date for the InterRail pass.
If you're buying a one country or a flexi pass you also have to write the specific days on which you want to use trains on the pass.
For all different IR passes applies that you have to fill out the travel report that comes with the ticket.

Then you only have to fill in the travel report. :)
