Hello

I am thinking about travelling in England (southwest, esp. Cornwall and Devon) by train.
Does anybody know if all train lines are included in the Internet tickets? I asked the main company of the Southwest (First Great Western) but they didn't know.
And does anybody know what the difference between a BritRail pass and an Interrail ticket is?

Thanks for any answers, nana

You do not pay any supplements in the United Kingdom.
This is realy relaxing.
Only in night trains, you have to pay for your beds. And this not cheap ... but okay if you want to sleep one night very comfortable ... I remember London - Edinburgh was about 40 EUR for a two-bed-compartment per person.
But you do not have to do it by nighttrain ... the connections from London in direction of Scotland are very fast and easy to do within a day. :)

Britrail (compared to InterRail):
- you can select, how many days you want to travel (very flexible)
cobnsecutiv: 2,4,8,15,...
1,2,... days within a month
- you can not travel Ireland

in my eyes, Britrail is a little bit more expensive than interrail, but more flexible.

Hey!

I also want to go to the UK this summer and because of that I have a few question about the nighttrains. Do I have to pick a bed or can I choose a normal seat? If yes, how much does it cost? And last question: Are there other suppliments I have to pay in the UK?

I´m looking forward to your answers, Jana-Elena!

P.S.: I hope you all had a nice christmas time with lots of presents and a good start into 2007!!! :P

And I´m the third person who wants to travel to UK in summer...

Today I heard from InterRail - travel Europe by train. In my eyes this is a wonderful possibility to see a lot without paying too much.

Thats why I assail you with questions:

1.) Are the Undergrounds (i.e. in London) inclusive?
2.) At -page link outdated- page 7 you find a Map. Are the red lines all options to travel?
3.) Do you know how much a ferry from England to Ireland (Holyhead to Dublin) cost?

----

a) In this forum I read that it is imprudently to book the hostels before I start my journey. When shall I book the hostels?

b) Do you know some cheap and at the same time good hostels in LONDON, DUBLIN and OXFORD?

c) The cities I listed above are big cities. Do you have some insider tips which small cities or villages are worth seeing (with a hostel)?

Thank you for answering my questions? I'm curious about it!

schöne Grüße

Hello,

I got this email answer from trainsxxx

All UK and Ireland rail companies are obliged to accept the pass on normal
trains. You cannot us it on luxury day or weekly trips but then you would
not want these anyway. Also it is not valid on metros, trams and buses.

The prices and validity are changing from 01 April so contact us again then
and we will be able to give you the 2007 details.

Yes U can, and it is free although booking is recommended. Scotrail sleepers, leave from London Euston.

Does anyone know the supplement for a trip from Bruxelles to London by Eurostar?
In another topic, somebody wrote that it was cheaper to book the trip in advance without Interrail than going on the train without any ticket but the interrail-pass.
I'm a bit worried, because the standard prices are very high...

it will be something about 65 EUR. the best is to call them ... and then compare if a special offer is cheaper... :)
