You can go wherever you like each day. Like it says on their website "Hop on and off as you please". Do you have any experience of travelling on a busy developed rail network? There are few staff to guide you and you are expected to be able to work most things out. Official website is https://www.britrail.com the version ending .net is a sales agent. The agent will offer seats reservations for a significant service charge, but they are free from ticket counters at railway stations, and often not needed anyway.
