Hi there, my interrail is almost there, but I have some questions.

How exactly do night trains work? Is it a special train or every time I travel at night is considered 'night train' ? What is there to know about night trains? Is it needed reservation? Another point is: I know there is a night train from Venice to Budapest via Ljubljana and Zagreb. But my route is Ljubljana - Zagreb - Budapest - Bratislava. That specific night train goes directly from Venice to Budapest?

Many thanks, Gonçalo

Im not sure of any hard and fast rule as to what a night train is. In western europe they all have codes, such as EN, CNL, Aretesia etc, all have couchettes/sleepers and all require some kind of reservation/suppliment. In eastern europe they arent necessarily classed as EN or anything, but they will convey some kind of sleeping accomadation and will require at least a reservation.

Im not really sure what youre asking regards the train Ljubljana-Bratislava? Do you want to stop in Zagreb and Budapest and Bratislava? Because that would be better done with day trains, since the diestances are quite short

Yeah maybe I expressed myself wrong, my idea is this route: Ljubljana - Zagreb - Budapest - Bratislava. And I want to visit all these citis, maybe 3/4 days in each one. Do you think is it better to use day trains in this case?

Yeah since the distances are so short
