I've just started planning a months Trip from Amsterdam to somewhere in the Balkans and was wondering how safe it is to travel.
My Mum and Dad still think it's like what it was in the 1990's and don't want to let me go (I'll only be 16) and would rather that I go to place where I can speak the language (I speak French,German,Italian) but they're all really expensive and I don't have much money (£1500 to the max)
As I see it we'll be travelling something like
Amsterdam
Berlin
Prague
Munich
Ljublana
Zagreb
Split
(Dubrovnik)
(Sarajevo?)
Belgrade
Novi Sad for EXIT fest
We'd also like to go to Exit both my friends are seasoned festival goers in England and we were wondering how safe it'll be to Exit in the terms of looking after bags and Camping also I'd like to know how much things cost out in the Balkans and whether Camping might be an idea.
Any experiences/insights/advice would help me a lot
thanks

Camped at Exit last year - they have lockers and stuff if you want, we just kept passport/ticket etc on us at all times and left nothing valuable in the tent. You cant get into the campsite without a wristband that only people who are camping have.
The balkans are pretty cheap for everything, hostels (really good ones) are €10-15, you can eat out for a fiver, and the beer is cheap and good too. Id definately recommend Sarajevo if you have time.
Camping isnt a great idea (cos its so goddam hot), especially at Exit, where the music finishes at 8(am)
Also, Exit was my first proper festival experience. Way to drop me in at the deep end. Im off to besti this year, should be a breeze!

Take care of your money, otherwise there are no problems. I think your chance to get mugged are bigger in London than in the Balkans.
