Hi all! Two friends and I are hoping to do a 22 day IR trip this summer, and I've got a couple of questions to ask, it'd be great if anyone could pitch in :)
Firstly, here's the route, flying from and back to london:
Amsterdam - Munich - Budapest - Zagreb (+Croatian Coast) - Ljubljana - Venice - Rome
..and the questions:
1) Is this doable in the 22 days, with 10 days worth of trains? (from searching the route planner web thing, I think there are pretty short trains between each stop).
2) Would it be possible (or sane) to add Naples after Rome?
3) How hard is it to visit the croatian coast from Zagreb?
4) Would it be better (especially for us Brits) to go straight from Venice to Nice, before heading to Calais for a ferry?
5) Is there any way I can incorporate Krakow (which from reading stuff in the forums, I hear is an amazing place) without having crazily long journeys?

Thats a pretty nice route for 22 days. There is a good sleeper Amsterdam-Munich that only takes up one day of youre pass and leaves you more time to explore. A couchette is around €15-20 (similar to a Hostel)
You could add Naples after Rome, it could work out cheaper if you can get a cheaper flight back from there. It depends how long you intend to spend in each place, especially on the Croatian coast.
Its easier to Visit the coast by bus, but you can get to Zadar and Split (I think) by train. Its just they are very slow!
If you wanted to do this you could. It would save on a flight (a good thing in my book) but would mean a pretty long journey Nice-Calais that you would have to factor into the number of days on your pass.
The obvious place to add in Krakow would be between Munich and Budapest. Its about 13 hours overnight from Munich, with a change in Vienna, but would take up 2 days on your ticket

thanks very much! I think we've decided to go to zurich for the streetparade... not sure how it'd fit in time wise, but it'll work out :) does anyone have an idea how hard it is to get accomodation on the 8th night?
