Hi,
I'm starting my trip the 1st of June by flying to Bremen and going from there to Amsterdam by train. Now, I found a connection that sounds good (via Münster(Westf) and Oberhausen) with two IC trains and one ICE but I was wondering whether I need to buy a reservations for the these trains. Deutsche Bahn's website says that the IC's are subject to reservation and also for ICE it says 'please reserve'. But according to my InterRail guide book, IC and ICE trains don't have a compulsory reservation. So could someone tell me how it really is? Thanks! :)

Where does it say that ICs are subject to reservation? You dont need a reservation on them as far as I know, nor on ICE trains, although if you wanted to it would be €4 and Id recommend it if you were travelling at peak times

No, there shouldn't be any mandatory reservation on the mentioned mentioned trains, I checked on the ÖBB site. Maybe there was a misunderstanding as it says bike transport subject to compulsory reservation. :?:

The please reserve term is used mostly to announce that it is a heavily demanded train.
