Want to visit this this August. Was planning on catching train from Vienna to Berchtesgaden (changing at Salzburg), wandering round Berchtesgaden for few hours then going to Eagle's Nest - how exactly is the best way to do this - understand I have to take a bus from Berchtesgaden to Obersalzburg then from there a special bus up to Eagle's nest, but where exactly do I have to go - do the buses stop/start in same place, or do i have to walk for a transfer? have been checking on various travel sites but all people have done is copy and paste info about how it was a present from Borman etc., and was hoping someone on here could be more helpful!

The bus stop for the bus to the Kehlsteinhaus should be adjacent to the bus stop of the regular bus Berchtesgaden - Obersalzberg Buchenhöhe (Bus 838).
You can look for schedules efa.svv-info.at . Type in Berchtesgaden and Bahnhof in the two upper boxes and Obersalzberg in the third box. That click Anfordern. Now you can choose Kehlstein Busabfahrt from the Drop-down-menu. Kehlstein Busabfahrt is obviously identical with Dokumentationszentrum.
I guess that you can ask the driver too; anyway you certainly will be the only person heading for Kehlsteinhaus so you can ask them too.

That's really helpful - guessed it would be like that and like to find things out myself too, just didnt want to turn up and waste the day cos i hadnt planned properly!

Youre welcome. Guess it was easier for me looking for the specific info since my mother tongue is german.
