hi. I know the answers to my question are probably on the forum somewhere but im having trouble finding them...

Where can i find out the exact surcharge for certain trains? For example, the TGV from Paris to Biarritz and the night train from Rome to Munich.

Im trying to budget for my trip and I need exact figures on these trains.

Thanks guys. :P

For the TGV, €3-10 (depending on when you travel)

For the CNL, see here https://rail.cc/en/night-train/germany/de

If a €7 difference makes a difference to your budget - give up now! Remember - once youve worked out what you need, take half your clothes and double your money!

This describes perfectly the preparation of an InterRail tour: take half your clothes and double your money
I have a smile on my face - which perfect words you found! :)

hi, is it really necessary to reserve the ticket for a TGV in advance?
don't you get a place in the train, and how many days in advance should you reserve?

thanks guys

If you want/need a certain connection on a certain day it is advisable to make a reservation as soon as possible. I tried to make a reservation for a TGV Paris - Nimes on the 2nd of Aug in the morning (sunday) and the train was full already. ;)
The is only a certain contingent of seats for InterRailes on each TGV, when they are all bokked you cant get a reservation anymore even if there are other vacant seats.
If you're a badass you may try and ask the conductor if it's OK to board without a reservations but I doubt that this will often work.
