Hi,
I am travelling in a group of 4 (2 guys, 2 girls) we are planning to go from June 8th -> June 22nd 2009.
So far we have booked the eurostar from London to Brussels (using special £59 return offer) - we will arrive in brussels at around 10am on the 8th and leave from brussels at 18:59 on the 22nd.
The original plan was to go : Paris - Berlin - Prague - Vienna - Budapest - Ljubljana - Zagreb - Sofia - Athens - Rome - Milan
due to work constraints we can now only go for 2 weeks and as we had to wait for one persons holidays to be confirmed by work, we had to take the cheap fare to brussels instead of Paris : now we are stuck working out what to do....
the main questions we have are:
1. How far can we go in this time period?
2. Is it advisable to use more overnight trains to cover greater distances?
3. Which interrail pass is best for us - 22day pass or 10 in 22 days?
4. How long should we plan to stay in each city?
5. As time is tight should we book everything in advance to make the best use of our time?
we would like to take in more of Eastern Europe (where we havnt been before) + we don't mind travelling distances on train either in the day or night.
Any help would be great, thanks in advance

1) Not that far (imo)
2)Yes!
3)10 in 22. Your going for 2 weeks, to make the 22 day pass make sense you would have to be on a train almost everyday, therefore not seeing anything of the cities apart from their train stations!
4)2/3 Nights for all the ones you mentioned except for Sofia and maybe Milan, which you could see with 1 night
5)Thats up to you - getting to Athens and back in 2 weeks is possible, but only if its well planned. If you dont mind having to cut your journey down a bit for a little bit more freedom then only book the really important bits (like getting back for your eurostar)
I would probably mission it straight to vienna from brussels, then Budapest (its nicer than prague), if your into your partying check out Belgrade then into Bulgaria. Then you should decide whether to head back up to Croatia and Slovenia (what I would do) or go down into Greece (via Skopje for a night) and then take a boat accross to Rome. Then night train up to Paris before finishing in Brussels on your final day.
