Hi,
I'm a Non-EU citizen studying and living in Ireland for the past 1 year on student visa.
This is my problem;
My family is coming over to travel around Europe with me during the summer.
I understand that I qualify for InterRail pass, meanwhile they have to buy EuRail passes.
I searched for quite some time but didn't find an absolute answer. Pardon me if this topic is up before, but these are my questions:
1) Can I buy the EuRail pass? Am I eligible to travel around with it since my passport has Ireland visa stamped on it? or rather is it possible that I will be fined for using incorrect pass? (I know that I could and should get an InterRail pass considering that it is quite better than EuRail pass)
2) Will it be a problem if I travel together with my family but we're holding a different pass? I mean, about train reservation, different pass benefits and few other problems that might come up. I'm worried if these passes have different access to certain places.
3) Are the trains the same for these passes?
4) What about train reservation ? Can we reserve together (one-off) ?
5) What should you recommend to me? Anyone having/ gone through the same problem?
Thanks for reading and more thanks for those replying ;)

1) you have to buy an InterRail pass - as your country of residence is in Europe = Ireland
https://rail.cc/en/interrail
2) it is no problem to travel together with InterRail AND Eurail ( https://rail.cc/en/eurail ). you can use the same trains. and in most cases you pay for example the same supplements for night trains and so on - the two passes are quite similar. there are a lot of this mixed groups (InterRail+Eurail) travelling Europe together. :)
3) yes... just use the train schedule planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
4) yes... the best is to buy supplements/reservations during your tour on a station
5) relax and have fun ... it will be a great tour of Europe !! :)
all the best, Peter :)

Hello!
I have a very similar question... I am also living in Germany for a year and would like to do a trip using Interrail but after the trip I'm flying home again (Brazil). Is that a problem? My visa will still be valid during the trip in Europe! :)
Thank you

hej ... :)
as long as you have a proof like a visa that you stayed 6 or more months in Germany, just go to the railcc shop: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
and order your interRail ticket. :)
fill in as country of residence: GERMANY
and your BRAZILIAN passport number.
all the best and viel Spaß, Peter :)
