Hey fellow interrailers :D we've been planning and saving for nearly a year now, and we're hoping to book our tickets soon, although we still need to check if this is doable...

Budget - We have about £2,600 (for two of us) (aprx 2,800 euro) for:-

Tickets (22 day continuous) £755 (1 adult and 1 youth)
Kit/Camping Gear £600 (aprx)
Train from home & Ferry to Holland £120
Plane home from Paris £130
Spending cash £1000

We will be camping mostly, maybe some cheap hostels and the odd overnight train. Food wise we'll eat as cheap as poss with the odd resteraunt meal for a treat. Do we have enough??

Itinery (Flexible depending on how we feel at each place)

Starting around 14th August (PM)...

Train from home to Harwich - Overnight Ferry to Rotterdam arrive 15th August am (Rail pass to start)

Rotterdam-Amsterdam (2-3 nights)

Amsterdam-Berlin (short stay 1 or 2 nights??)

Berlin-Czech Rep (Prague & Cesky Krumlov)

Czech Rep - Austria (Hallstatt, Salzburg & Innsbruck)

Austria - Italy (Venice - short stay 2-3 nights maybe??)

Italy - Germany (Black Forest area - overnight/short stay)

Germany - France (Paris) Arrive 5th Sept - final day of Pass

From Paris fly home to UK on or around 9th Sept.

Any thoughts???
Cheers, Han & Ian :D

hi Han & Ian...

so you have GBP 1000 together for 22 days... is GBP 45 per day... this should be enough if you camp sometimes. in the big cities like Amsterdam, Venice, Paris a hostel stay is about EUR 25 at least in a dorm. have a good calculation!
the route sounds good ! :)

Peter :)

Thanks Peter,
I hope GBP 45 is enough it should be but we've always got another few months to raise some more money hopefully :)
Just another quick one how easy is it to find/get to campsites in Amsterdam/Paris/Berlin etc etc??

Cheers :P

the big cities you mentioned only have camp sites outside of the centres ... so you have to pay for buses or metro to reach the centre. it is in most cases cheaper and more comfortable to sleep in a hostels dorm !! have a look at some hostel prices: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] :)

Nice little campsite in Rotterdam where I've already stayed: www.stadscamping-rotterdam.nl

Amsterdam campsite: www.campingzeeburg.nl

You could by a strip card for a certain number of travels by public transport, it is valid in Rotterdam as well as in Amsterdam (basically in whole of the Netherlands).

I dont know any campsite in Berlin but I've stayed at a nice hostel, Wombat's: https://rail.cc/en/berlin/wombats-city-hostel-berlin/l336

I wrote a few lines about the campsite in Paris https://rail.cc/en/paris/campsite-bois-de-boulogne-paris/l874

If you need any further info, especially concerning connections and about Austria please feel free to ask. :)
