Hi all,

Me and my mate are planning to going to Paris/Berlin/Prague/Vienna/Pisa/Rome and are so far managing to find out journey times so far - ive done a lot of research.

I do still have some nagging worries though;

1) Night Trains - we are hoping to get a night train between Paris and Berlin - i know it exists - but i really want to know how to book it with my interrail pass - where can i reserve and pay for trains?

2) The other thing is ive heard talk of reserving trains but not paying till later or something or other which i dont understand. I want to reserve the train and pay for it at the same time - or if i have to leave the payment til later how do i pay and where?

3) What is the differents between a reservation fee and a supplement?

4) With the trains you dont have to reserve but a suppliment is necessary, where do i pay for this, and how? In the UK you can just jump on a train in most areas and pay the ticket guy onboard - do countries in europe run a simular system.

I am travelling in August so this really is the early stages but i love to plan ahead so that i have nothing to think about when away.

Thanks.

1) The easiest option would be to do it in Paris, at the train station

2) Ive never heard of this - if you book at a train station you will pay and get your reservation there and then

3) In reality nothing. I reservation reserves you a seat. A suppliment is for upgrading your ticket for a high speed train, or for a couchette. A suppliment will normally included a reservation

4) Make sure you pay before you get on board - most places will fine you/make you pay for a normal ticket before you board. And I dunno where you go in the UK but here I cant even get to the platform without a ticket, damn barriers. And if I did get on without a ticket thered be a heaft fine :'(

1)DB info line. there you can book all trains and, if you don't live in Germany, they send you for 3,5 € in ~3 days.

Thankyou,

Whilst i appreciate that buying the ticket in Paris may be the easiest - but im worried that because im going early august - probably the very busiest time of year - that i wont be able to get the ticket.

Plus can anyone tell me how much a night/ sleeper train on 3rd/4th August will cost me roughly with my ticket.

Thanks for your help! :P

there are worse places to get stuck for a day or 2 because the train is full, trust me...
