hey guys,
my boyfriend and me are planning our interrail route for summer, and does any of you know if it's possible to visit spain (barcelona), france(atlantic coast), and greece in 22days? (with 10 travelling days) we are starting our trip either from austria or from northern germany (we don't know yet)...
our plan sounds a bit stupid because these countries aren't near to each other but we really want to do this.. so it would be cool to have some good advise:)

thanks, marli

hi Marli ...
yes you can do it. depends on how many places you want to visit in France.
as for the route Barcelona to Athens you will need at least 2-3 travel days. have a look at the train schedules and search for a route Barcelona to the Italian harbour where you want to stay. either the departure or the arrival day of the ferry (it is over-night) has to be one of you travel days.
from Patras in Greece continue to Athens. have a look at the Italy and Greece topic here at the forum to find all the details. :)
from Greece back to Austria, calculate as well at least 3 days - sometimes the trains in Eastern Europe are in delay, better to have one more travel day, not to get stock somewhere. better then spent one more day in Budapest.
Peter :)

thanks a lot for the help :) ....
just a few questions left:
do we have to pay high supplements for the ferry from italy to greece? and do you think it would be more sensible to start our trip in austria, then go to greece (over italy), and then go to france and spain with the travel days we still have and fly back home from spain? do you think we'll manage to go from greek to barcelona over eastern europe in less than 10 days?

have a nice day, marli

for the ferry ITALY - GREECE: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/italy/it

it is also a good route to go from Austria, via Vienna, Budapest, Beograd, Sofia, Thessaloniki to Athens ... you can do all this with long distance and night trains.
have a look at the train schedules - https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route . and here at the country topics of the forum for the night train supplements - which are really cheap. :)

from Athenes via Patras (ferry) to Italy and then to Barcelona (you can do this with regional trains, free of supplements) - with some stops along the Italian-French coast. :)
