I am looking to go interrailing this summer, probably around the end of June/early July for 14 days or so. We will be a group of two eighteen year old girls.
We are hoping to get the 22 stops in 10 days interrail pass.
Countries we really want to visit are: Barcelona, Paris, Berlin and Prague
However we would also like to see if we could fit in any of these: Budapest, Brussels, Athens, somewhere in Italy like Verona, Venice or Rome.
We are from England - we are not sure whether to get the eurostar over to Paris and start there, or whether to get a flight from Luton airport to Barcelona?
We have a budget off around £600
We would REALLY appreciate it if anyone could help us out with a route or anything as we havn't really got a clue what we are doing! Also...is £600 a realistic budget?
Thankyou!

ok...
first of all, the ticket you mentioned is for 10 days of train travel within 22 days - so its designed for a longer trip that 2 weeks, youd have to be travelling nearly every day to make it cost efficient.
Secondly, the places you mention are expensive, you need to budget around £20 per night in a hostel, so that plus the ticket and you dont have a lot left out of £600.
If you check the France forum there is information on the Eurostar and ferries, but its almost always cheaper and more convenient to fly out and start your trip on the mainland.
Out of the other places youd mentioned id recommend Budapest (bit cheaper, really cool) and Italy, though probably not Venice in the summer (expensive, full of tourists). Youd be hard pressed to get down to Athens and back, unless you start/finsh there and take the boat from Italy (check the greece forum).
For a route just get google maps up and try to figure out something sensible. Barca, Paris Berlin Prague Budapest would be a good place to start. Slovenia is really cool and you could head there on your way to Italy and then fly home...

Thanks for the reply.
We were thinking of flying to Barcelona...then getting the train to Paris, on to Berlin (perhaps via Brussels?) and then onto Prague.
We need to figure out how to get back to England as well. I think we are gong to leave Athens out, and just head probably for Budapest/Italy like you said and then home.
Can you reccomend any cheaper train passes at all?

not really - interrail is the only one that covers all of europe. There are passes for places like the balkans that are cheaper, and you may be able to get cheaper bus passes but i dont know anything about them. A cheap flight home from Italy is probably your best bet for getting home.
