Hey,

we are wondering if anyone can tell us something about our route. Perhaps a must-see or something you really don't need to see.

We first go to Kopenhagen, Göteborg, Oslo, Bergen. Then we go back to Oslo and go by ship to Fredrikshaven (already booked). There we spend two days in Skagen and Arhus. Then we go by nighttrain to Amsterdam, 2 days there (we are not night-train-experienced). Then we go to Paris, spend some days in the Bretagne and go to the south of france (Carcassonne, Avignon, Orange). Then we move on to Pisa with a stop in Monaco and visit Pisa and Firenze. Afterwards we get home (through switzerland).

We've got 31 days.

Thanks for your answers :)

hi Dance ...
a really nice tour... well planed ... and not only the big spots of Europe !! :)
just some information to add:

1) Amsterdam to Paris: avoid the expensive THALYS train if you want to save money. you can travel from Amsterdam to Bruxelles by free IC trains. Information: https://rail.cc/en/train/amsterdam-to-paris

2) Southern France: Petit Train Jaune
There is a small yellow train (free of supplements) going down from La Tour de Carol to Perpignan. You reach La Tour de Carol by train in the morning from Toulouse. From Perpignan then go on in direction of Avignon, Orange, Monaco by regional trains (close to the sea - and free of supplements):
https://rail.cc/en/train/latour-de-carol-to-villefranche-de-conflent

3) Southern France: maybe just add Nice instead of Monaco ... or visit both... but Nice is better for an overnight stay.

Peter :)

Hi
Thanks for your answer :)
So you think the route is not cramped? Because we heard some poeple who said we wouldn't manage to visit all of it in 31 days.

about the train to frankfurt: we can't go there without supplements because we are from germany..

so if we want to take the petit train jaune, how much time should we reserve for it in our plans? because it takes quite a while to go to Perpignan from Toulouse.. and if we go to La Tour de Carol I think we would visit Andorra too.. just to have another country added to the list ;)

for the tour TOULOUSE to LA TOUR DE CAROL (Petit train jaune down to) - PERPIGNAN you have to calculate ONE day. have a look at the train schedules.
and ANDORRA isn't really worth visiting. it is okay, but you will loose one day - if you have enough time, perfect - do it. :)
Andorra by train: https://rail.cc/en/andorra-train/f1580

oh bad luck ... Germany is really bad situated in the middle of Europe. so you have to use either the THALYS (it isn't wort to travel via Frankfurt - to expensive then, as you have to pay in Germany).
use the route free of supplements via Antwerp, Lilles, ...
example:

Amsterdam Centraal Dep: 09:54 - IC - free
Antwerpen Centraal Arr: 12:00

Antwerpen Centraal Dep: 12:06 - IC - free
Lille Flandres Arr: 13:53

Lille Flandres Dep: 14:15 - RegionalExpress - free
Aulnoye Aymeries Arr: 15:20

Aulnoye Aymeries Dep: 16:01 - RapidTrain - free
Paris Nord Arr: 17:50

about your route. you can do it in one month. but you will see during your travels: it is good to have something planed, but your plans will change... don't fix to much - stay flexible :)

We just made the first part of our tour fix. As we travel in july it will not be easy to find somewhere to stay in skandinavia. So we booked most of our hostels in advance and also booked the ferry and we will book the train to amsterdam. We have got a fix date to be in Amsterdam because there we will meet another friend of ours who will do the rest of the tour with us - which is not as planed as the beginning.

I hope we will meet a lot of nice people and without our prebooked parts we will stay flexible ;) (hope so..)
