Youth Hostelling International
Between HI and other normal hostels I don't see much of a difference about the prices.
For some of the HI hostels a membership card is required. It costs 6€ and is valid for 1 year.
Does it worth the price? Should I do it?
Thank You! :)

hi ...
I owned the HI card some years in the past - but cancelled it, as in the big cities, there are more public hostels than HI hostels... have a look on [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

Hi there,
Just wondering, the hostels on [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] , do they require any kind of hostel membership ?
Also, are you able to get away with getting a private room for 1 and having 3 people sleep in it ?
Matt.

No, and almost definately not due to fire regs etc

Because I love tiled bedrooms, drill-instructor-like reception staff and the colour grey, I really enjoyed the HI hostels.
Not.
Take private any day - HI take the piss. Plus, while at the HI in Liechtenstein - it was cheap - but you had to pay for EVERYTHING else that was otherwise free/courtesy in other hostels. HI worked out just as if not more expensive. Especially the bloody driers - 50 cents for 10 minutes and you've got say, 15 cotton items?! 50 cents my ass, try 50 euros.

I've got the HI-guide and expected to use them. Then i saw some other hostels in our travelguide and we ended up there.
I suposse HI isn't cheaper than other.
The biggest advance could be this card where you get a stamp for each overnight, the 7th is then free. Don't know if this still exist, i got this card 2 years ago in Rome..
Edit: huch, old thread, sorry...
