Hi,

we (that means 3 girls from Germany) want to go on interrail this summer.
We first want to go to Scandinavia and then to Amsterdam, Brussels and France.
We now that you are not allowed to use the ticket in your own country. Now we thought that it might be possible to take a nighttrain from Copenhagen to Amsterdam to avoid to have to pay for the part through Germany (because there is no way around Germany to Amsterdam without more than 1000 km ;) )
Is it possible to do this without paying a supplement? (of course the one for the nighttrain..)

Thank you for your answers :)

Hi.
The rule for the country of residence is really sad... especially in your case.

And no, you can't use the direct night train for free trough Germany.
Only solution for you:
- Schönes Wochenend Ticket of the Deutsche Bahn
- Ländertickets of the Deutsche Bahn
- via the Baltic countries: https://rail.cc/en/finland-estonia-latvia-lithuania-poland-bus-train/f2329
- or if you book early enough a ticket for the night train CNL (CityNightLine) from Kopenhagen to Amsterdam, you can get a special fare for something like 39 EUR...

Can't we just pay the supplement for the nighttrainpart throug germany? It would be an expensive night but it would take a lot of time to go around germany via the baltic states, austria and so on..
does anyone know how much it would be for the supplement?

if we book it in advance?

so we would have to pay:

- supplement of 39 Euro for the part thorugh Germany
- supplement for the nighttrain (how much?)

- supplement for the night train (seats) including the normal ticket: EUR 39. but only if you get the special ticket - as they are limited. ask at a German station... :)

We found a train that would cost only 29 Euro.. with a seat.
With a couchett it would be 49 Euro. Is it safer to sleep in a couchett-compartment? It can't be locked, can it?

Hi,

I am a Turkish citizen who is on a temporary Danish internship visa. I'd like to interrrail down to Turkey from Malmö, Sweden this summer with my girlfriend.

My problem is: I don't know how the own country rule applies to my case. Do I order the ticket as a Turkish citizen, or a Danish resident? For instance, do I have to pay extra if I take a Copenhagen-Amsterdam train? What happens if I, alternatively, take a Malmö-Amsterdam train instead?

As for my girlfriend... She is a Finnish citizen who has permanent residency in Sweden. When she orders the interrail ticket, does she get it as a Finnish resident or a Swedish resident? And... does she have to pay extra to take the train from Sweden to Amsterdam?

In any case, we'd be very grateful if you could give us some advice on minimising our expenses for the Malmö/Copenhagen - Amsterdam trip. What should we do?

Hi ...

the last six months are the important thing.
if you can proof that you live the last 6 months in Denmark by official documents (residency permit, visa, ...) you will have to buy a Danish InterRail Ticket - if not, or if it is not marked in your passport, you can buy a Turkish InterRail Ticket.
The same for your girlfriend.

And then Denmark is your country of residence in which you can NOT travel for free ....Peter :)
