We dont want to get to the stations and find out the train is full up or had a compulsory reservations.

Once a connection between two destinations is found how can you book that reservation (or supplement) ONLINE with your global pass fare? The Interrail website is not very helpful here. If you cannot book it online how are you supposed to book it

if your really worried you can ring up the train company and book it. What I do usually is when I arrive at a city I book my next train then, so 2/3 days in advance, unless there are lots of them in which case i risk it and book it on the day. Much more fun that way.

Yeah, you could get stuck somewhere (like paris, nice, or Sofia at 2am, not so nice) but its all part of the travelling experience!

:arr: Here is the information you need: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

DBahn is free in general, except night trains and ICE Sprinter (which you usally won't meet).
ÖBB: free, except of the night trains
SNCF: buy reservations online at [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux]

Tell them the details and what you want.
Be prepared and have wrote down everything before you call. The travel times, day and so on ... so you won't get confused... usually you get it send home by letter.
