UPDATE: https://rail.cc/en/train/zagreb-to-split

hi ...
yes it is the train coming from Vienna.
The train changes the name in Zagreb from EC159 to D825.
You have to pay these fares: https://rail.cc/en/split-rijeka-vienna-night-train/f1909
But as there are new wagons attached to this train in Zagreb, you will also have 2nd class normal seats. Cheaper than a couchette. The reservation is EUR 3-4.
Peter :)

As part of a round trip august; we are 2 persons who plan to travel by following connection:
[code:18bnhjid]Budapest-Keleti pu ab 14:05 D 204
Zagreb Glavni Kolod. an 20:00
Zagreb Glavni Kolod. ab 22:55 D 825 Nacht-Schnellzug
Split an 06:55

[/code:18bnhjid]
I tried to Call NSB international's CallCenter, but they didnt have much local information about this connection (beside having a high service fee on the callcenter).
So therefor, I hope somebody here can help me:

1) Are 2 bed sleeping-compartment available from Zagreb to Split and what is the supplement fee for such compartment
2) Is 1st class ticket required for 2 bed compartment or is it available on second class ticket?
3) What is the travel fee from Budapest to Split (to verify however InterRail is the best option)
4) Is it recommended (or required) to book compartment in advance or could it be done in Budapest 2 days before departure?

I presume NSB can fix this from Oslo, but my contact with them so fare gived me the impression that they dont have very good knowledge and have high service fee. But; I will be in Berlin some days in May. Would it be recommended to do book the supplement by Deutsche Bahn or any travel agency?

Y

hi ...
here the information I can give you from my personal experience.

Budapest to Zagreb by normal day train 2nd class: EUR 32
Zagreb to Split 2nd class: EUR 24 + supplement for the night train

:arr: supplement for the night train should be like that (maybe one EURO more or less) per person:

double sleeper: EUR 45
bed in triple (T3) sleeper: EUR 30
couchette (4-bed compartment): EUR 26
couchette (6-bed compartment): EUR 19
seat (2nd class only): EUR 5

you can use the double sleeper with a 2nd class ticket. I recommend to book this night train before in Budapest or Vienna - should be also possible in Germany!

point to point tickets are available via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]

Danke, Peter.

I presume that all the supplement prices is pr bed?

Unfortunately; Vienna is outside my route. Do you know what service fee DB charge when booking tickets in foreign country and are there any alternative to book online / internet?

via Internet it is not easy to book - if you buy it in Germany at a station, there is no service fee on the tickets... maybe it is a bit more expensive (1-2 EUR) compared the the fares in Croatia or Hungary, but not a lot !! :)

Hi!

For reservation fares for the Zagreb - Split night train, have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zagreb-split-b-821/129
Note that these are the fares for the reservations bought at a ticket desk at a station in Croatia, fares can differ when bought abroad.

Reservation fares are always per person.

Thanks for your help!

I'm looking to reserve a bed on the 23:05 train but when I use the link you provided it says there are none available. :'(

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Buy at a station - the common way to get reservations. Online reservation is not possible for all trains.

EDIT: Reservation fares: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/zagreb-split-b821/129
