I'm planning to do this in summer using ferry from Calais. The only opportune route I found is via Munchen so I have to travel from Beograd to Munchen by direct train (EC 210, Beograd-Zagreb-Ljubljana-Munchen) or by three trains Beograd - Budapest(IC 344), Budapest - Wien(EC 968), Wien - Munchen(IC 68). In both cases I'll have no more than 14 minutes to catch a cnl from Munchen to Paris so my question is which is the better way to avoid delays? Are there many delays on the Serbian border with Hungary and Croatia? Or maybe I should travel to Budapest via Bucharest?

Thank you.

there are plenty of ways of doing it - i would travel via vienna, since you arrive in the morning on the train from belgrade (1 carriage comes from sofia) and then can leave in the afternoon for munich giving plenty of time for delays.

Thank you so much, this is a great idea! I had discarted the day train to Belgrade as a possibility but now I realize that even I lose the train from Belgrade to Wien and spend the night in Belgrade this won't affect the travel days of the ticket and in the worst case I'll arrive at Calais with no delay, just departing from Sofia some hours earlier. This advice really helped me! :)

glad to be of help. remember to take plenty of water and food with you, and dont leave booking your sleeper in sofia until the last minute. Also expect delays in Serbia!
