hey
I'm planning a trip from Barcelona along the south of France, into Switzerland and then down through Italy. To finish I want to get the ferry over to Croatia.
is this too much inter railing for a 10 day travel in 22 day pass?
Also, is it easy to get to the beaches in the south of France from the rail stations? or would I be better doing that bit by hire car / motorbike? (well, I've never ridden a motorbike so I guess I would have to learn that bit!)

hi Tim ...
the route sounds okay... maybe Croatia is a bit too much. depends on how long you will stay at the French beaches.
between Perpignan and Montpellier, the rail track is always close to the beaches. a maximum of 2 kilometres, often closer. take a regional train and just jump out of it where you like it.
so you can walk the distance ... but there are often bus services. it is not worth hiring a car.
maybe also think about staying some more days at the beaches of Croatia...
in Croatia you can reach by train the cities close to the sea: Rijeka, Zadar, Sibenik, Split, Ploce ... between these cities you have a very good and cheap public transport by bus service... running nearly every hour. so no problem to travel by bus then along the coast.
Have fun, Peter :)

thanks Peter. I'm going to skip Switzerland I think and spend some more time in Croatia. It's going to be a bit cheaper and since I'm on a budget and in need of some sun it should be perfect.
