Hi Travellers and locals,

I wonder if it`s possible to pay cash or at some ticketdistributer to use the trains, or is it just possible via online-purchase beforehand?

FRankly-this is about one of the most difficult trips to do by train-you´d better fly if youve never been in a train. Much cheaper too.
The ´fastest´ route is by ferry to Italy-then onward, and will take you still (start f.e. SUN)- 4 days (in summer)-arr WEDnesday-eve.-it also means using trains both by day and overnight.
The site seat61.com gives useful info for new travellers-though its mostly aimed at going to/fro UK.

nltrainer's answer is obviously for the other greek question asked just before this one and posted here by mistake - and on this forum you can't alter your mistakes. Information about ticket purchase is available in greek and english on the official website of railways in Greece, www.hellenictrain.gr

Is there any reason why you can't look at the website yourself? If it is possible will you want us to buy the ticket for you?
