I'm completely new to travelling by ferry and wondered if anyone could advise me on the differences between the types of accommodation available. For example: 4-berth inside cabin; 4-birth outside cabin; Junior Suite and Pullman seat, which is best/cheapest/least condusive to sea-sickness?
Also, how and where would I book a ticket and is there a reduced rate for interrail holders?

it is always up to date !! :)
if you found a ferry connection you want to use, visit the website of the ferry company. in most cases you can book your seat/bed online there... there you will as well find details about the different cabins.
if the special InterRail discount is not available on their websites (this is often the case), you can only buy the ticket directly at their office at the harbour. and it is normally no problem to get a seat on the ship... in peak times (summer and weekends), the cabins are sometimes full booked.
[b]4-berth inside cabin[/b]: 4 beds in a cabin, no window, air condition, if you want a bed for over night, this one is the cheapest solution
[b]4-birth outside cabin[/b]: 4 beds in a cabin with window, air condition
[b]Junior Suite[/b]: 2 beds, window, expensive
[b]Pullman seat[/b]: just a simple seat - the cheapest way to travel by ferry. on some ferries (Italy - Greece) you even don't need such a seat. just sleep outside on deck of the ship and watch the stars !!
