Hi Peter - Due to a jewellery / watch exhibition in Basel I have now to stay out at Bad Bellingen in Germany: next day I am take the Transalpin 08:14 Basel to Wien - Can you tell me how much time Ineed to allow at Basel for connections, is there customs/border inspections?
Thanks
Peter

hej ...
there are normally no border controls.
you have the Swiss part of the station (BASEL SBB) and the French part (BASEL SNCF) ... but these stations are in one building.
if you come from Germany and want to continue like you to Austria, it is no problem as you only use and stay in the Basel SBB part.
as it is a big station, calculate at least 15 minutes for changing the train.
all the best, Peter :)
