hey,
next summer we're going to start our first interrail tour :)
we are two girls of 16 years from Austria and have roughly planned the following tour:

Munich
Amsterdam
Brussels
Paris
Bordeaux
Madrid
Barcelona
Marseille
Nice
Milano
Venezia

mainly we want to camp but in the big cities we decided to stay in hostels because it's safer and probably more convenient.
now we have some questions for you interrail-pros ;) :
1. is the route possible in 22 days?
2. how much money would be needed, what do you think? (we don't need a lot of comfort)
3. how good are the train-connections in france and spain?
4. we'd like to do wildcamping too, do you have any tipps?

please help us, thanks :)

hej hej to Austria ... :)

here are answers which might help you ...

1) you can do this route in 22 days... have a look at this link where you can check the train connections and see the travel times: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
but always pay attention to the supplements... in Germany you don't pay anything in most cases, even using the high speed train ICE. in France you pay for the TGV if you avoid peak times something around 3 EUR per train.... in Spain it is a bit more... for Italy as well ... but you will always find a cheap connection.
a list of the supplements is: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

2) it depends... calculate it like this ... 8 EUR per day for food, 8 EUR for extras like drinking water, train supplements, bus, ... and 15-20 EUR for hostels and so on ... so you will have 30 EUR per day. I think this is realistic... you also can survive with 20 EUR per day...

3) very good. often there are high speed trains... use the links I mentioned in answer (1).

4) it is not allowed to cam on the beaches in France, Spain and Italy. I also can not recommend it to do this at tourist places or close to the big cities. sometimes there is robbery and violence. if you camp somewhere in a small village and ask the farmer before, it is normally no problem. but you will find camp sites for 5-7 EUR per person and night.
for the big cities I recommend hostels. have a look on [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

have fun, Peter :)
